Aether Gazer's Echoes of the Past Is Version 4.7, Not 5.1, and Runs 28 Days Against 42 for the Version It Replaces
Echoes of the Past runs 28 days. The three Aether Gazer versions before it ran 43, 48 and 42, and the notice that announced the new pace described the coming cycles as "slightly shorter than before".
It is version 4.7. That number appears nowhere in the trailer and nowhere in the post carrying it, which is how the figure 5.1 entered circulation, including on this page in its first form. The only written source for the version number is the operator notice of July 22, 2026, which names V4.7 for August 4, and Game8 remains the only English page to have printed the pairing.
The window is verbatim in the trailer description and the official post: "After maintenance on 8/4 to 8/31 (UTC-7)".

28 days, against 43, 48 and 42
Every official version trailer prints its own window in UTC-7 in the video description, which makes the pace change measurable without leaving the channel that announced it.
| Window (UTC-7) | Version | Days |
|---|---|---|
| March 24 to May 5, 2026 | Theater of Gunpowder | 43 |
| May 6 to June 22, 2026 | Cycle of Tribulation | 48 |
| June 23 to August 3, 2026 | Tomorrow's Threnody | 42 |
| August 4 to August 31, 2026 | Echoes of the Past | 28 |
Fourteen days shorter than the version it replaces is a third of the cycle. "Slightly" is the notice's word for it.
The second number that prices the compression: CN ran this exact version, 4.7版本「旧时残响」, from December 25, 2025 to February 5, 2026, which is 43 days. Global gets the same content in two thirds of the time, 222 days later.

Version 4.7 is the first cycle under the shortened cadence set out in the July 22 notice, the same notice that made version 5.2 on December 1 the last content update: the December 1 wind-down and what the Companion Server actually promises covers that side separately. The compression is what gives August 4 its stakes, and the arithmetic behind it closes this page.
Light of Serenity - Hodur
She is Thunder, and she is the S-Grade counterpart to a Hodur who has been playable since launch.
| Field | Value | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Official English name | Light of Serenity - Hodur | T1 |
| CN / JP | 谧光之刻·霍德尔 / 静謐な光・ホズル | T2 |
| Grade | S | T1 |
| Element | Thunder | T2 |
| Gen-zone | Yggdrasill | T2 |
| Resource | Divine Grace | T2 |
| Weapon | Luminescent Cube | T2 |
| Functor | Elf - Gondul | T2 |
| Range | Ranged | T2 |
| Affiliation | Intelligence Officer, Division Nine | T2 |
| Voice, EN / JP | Kate Clarke / 藤田茜 | T2 |

Her weapon settles a claim that spread before the showcase did. There are no holographic playing cards in this kit: the infobox weapon field reads Luminescent Cube, and the CN redemption code shipped with this patch is literally 谧光魔方, "Serene Light Cube". Whatever the trailer projects around her, it is panels, not a card mechanic, and no role should be inferred from it.
The kit itself is unpublished in English. CN guides file her as a Thunder damage dealer who also buffs, working a system of dot marks capped at three and line marks capped at two, converted and consumed by a multi-phase ultimate that enters a state the guides call a Crystal Structure Realm. That reading is T3 and CN-only. The English skill text lands on August 4.

Two naming points worth holding. Guide sites print "Tranquil Light - Hodur", a fan translation of 谧光之刻; the official English string is Light of Serenity - Hodur, verbatim in the posts of July 27 and July 28. And the A-Grade Dark Mistletoe - Hodur, announced May 16, 2023 before launch, is the same character in a different element, Shadow rather than Thunder, with Sara Alexander voicing her instead of Kate Clarke. Hodur is the younger twin of Baldr.
Who else is on the banner, and why Zenkibo Tengu
CN 4.7 reran exactly two S-Grades, and both are one character each, which needs saying because the English coverage of this version has already split one of them in half.
Wadjet - Hidden Uraeus is S-Grade, Nile gen-zone, Physical, Trace resource, weapon Predator's Fang, functor Jette, voiced in English by Aiden Dawn. Her infobox reads, verbatim: "Squad Captain of the Fourth Squad, CORG's Egregious Crimes Department, codename 'Viper'". Viper is her codename, not a second modifier, and the Japanese release name is バイパー・ワジット. There is no modifier called Widget and none called Viper.
Kamuy - Zenkibo Tengu is S-Grade, Shinou gen-zone, Thunder, Rage resource, voiced by Sarah Ovens, and she reached Global in early August 2025 after a July 23 teaser and a July 28 showcase.

The reason for the second rerun is in the wiki's skillchain table and has not appeared on an English page before now: Hodur and Zenkibo Tengu share a new Ultimate Skillchain, entry five in the set, named Matrix Finale. A rerun paired to a new skillchain is a pull argument rather than a filler slot, and it is the one piece of structure the version trailer does not spell out.
CN team guides also name Kali as a recommended support for the pair. She is not a rerun.
What CN shipped in the same version
None of this has been announced for Global in English. All of it shipped on CN on December 25, 2025 under the same version number, and Global content has tracked CN version for version, so it is the best available preview and nothing more.
| CN content | What it is |
|---|---|
| Story | A crisis in the 寒寂北境, the desolate northern reaches |
| New location | 无名遗迹, "Nameless Ruins", where snow falls in real time and accumulates on the buildings, and collecting evidence fragments unlocks hidden rooms and special enemies |
| 古远虚影 | Mirror-challenge mode, ran December 25 to January 8 on CN |
| 谧光叙录 | Limited event, boss encounters with buff selection |
| 义体缉拿 | Four-zone challenge, ran January 15 to February 5 on CN |
| 限定委培 | Character training event |
| 联防协议α | Recurring stamina dungeon |
| Also included | New skillchains, sigils, outfits and companions |
The version motifs are 情报拼图, intelligence puzzle, and 寻路星光, pathfinding starlight, which is where the detective register in the trailer comes from. The two CN redemption codes attached to the patch are CN-only and will not work on Global.
One disambiguation, because two of the pages ranking for this version are about a different one. Echoes of the Past is not Echoes on the Way Back, which launched December 3, 2024 with Chapter 19 Part II and the S-Grade Dimglare - Verthandi. Twenty months and several versions separate them.

The trailer, and the three nights before it
Five minutes 58 seconds, 358 seconds exactly, published July 29, 2026 at 21:00:20 UTC-7, which is July 30, 04:00:20 UTC. Both figures come off the channel's own metadata.
The tagline is the same line CN used in December, verbatim in both languages: "Eliminate all the impossibilities, and whatever's left, no matter how improbable, is... the truth!"
| Date (UTC-7) | Post |
|---|---|
| July 27, 2026, 21:00 | Scan animation for Light of Serenity - Hodur |
| July 28, 2026, 21:00 | Modifier showcase, four animated cards |
| July 29, 2026, 21:00 | Version trailer |
Three consecutive nights at the same minute, on the official Aether Gazer EN account. Earlier reporting on this run, this page included, dated each post one day late by reading UTC timestamps against a UTC-7 schedule, and added a fourth post on July 26 that does not exist.

Three numbers will say where 4.7 lands
Whether the Hodur banner uses the full 28 days. No banner dates have been published. A limited banner that opens August 4 and closes August 31 spends its entire life inside the shortest version window Global has run in 2026, and CN's equivalent banner had 43 days to work with.
Whether 4.8 arrives before September 24. After August 31 there are 91 days to December 1, and at least four versions to fit into them: 4.8, 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2, going by CN's ladder, where 5.0 launched April 2, 2026 and 5.2 on July 23, 2026. That is an average of 23 days or fewer against a 42-to-48-day norm. If a 4.9 exists, the average falls to roughly 18.
Whether the compensation the notice promised is itemised. Event rewards affected by the shortened cycles are to be compensated by in-game mail in later updates. Amount and timing were unannounced on August 1, and version 4.7 is the first cycle where the shortfall becomes measurable.

FAQ
When does Echoes of the Past start and end? It opens after maintenance on August 4, 2026 and closes August 31, 2026, UTC-7. That is 28 days.
What version number is Echoes of the Past? Version 4.7. The trailer and the official post state no number at all; the July 22 operator notice names V4.7 for August 4, and Game8 prints the same pairing.
Is this the last Aether Gazer update? No. Version 5.2 on December 1 is the final content update. Echoes of the Past is version 4.7, with at least four versions still to come.
Who is the new S-Grade modifier? Light of Serenity - Hodur, Thunder element, Yggdrasill gen-zone, Divine Grace resource, wielding a Luminescent Cube. She is an Intelligence Officer of Division Nine and the S-Grade counterpart to the A-Grade Dark Mistletoe - Hodur that has been in the game since launch.
Is Hodur a limited modifier? On CN she was a limited "blue ticket" banner. No Global statement on her banner type has been published, so treat limited status as unconfirmed until August 4.
Who are Widget and Viper? Neither exists. Wadjet - Hidden Uraeus is a single S-Grade modifier whose codename is Viper and who serves as Squad Captain of the Fourth Squad in CORG's Egregious Crimes Department.
Why is Zenkibo Tengu rerunning? She and Hodur share a new Ultimate Skillchain called Matrix Finale, which makes the rerun a pairing rather than a filler slot.
